This project was my first ever project. I learned how to search and add multiple loops I learned how to change the tempo of the song to change the pace and energy of the beat. Different genres of music have different tempos, and I learned how to aim for a genre I was looking for by choosing a certain amount of beats per minute. I learned how to add multiple loops on top of each other, so my song can have multiple different sounds at once. I also learned how adjust the volume of a single loop, so one loop will crow up the song.
This was my first ever project. I was introduced to a software that allowed to make beats through loops. The challenge was to make a beat in ABA form with a drum beat and a bass beat. For the "A" part in my song, I added two drum loop and a single bass loop. I also added a piano loop too add something in the background of my beats, The piano loop was about six measures long and it added a different instrument to add emotion too the song. For the "B" part, I added a single drum beat and bass beat. On top of that I added a piano loop for a few measures to add a instrument in the background of my song.
This was my first project in which I made my own loops. I have learned how to make a drum beat on an 808 and transfer that beat into a drum machine in Soundtrap. I learned how to make a bass beat and change the pitch to match the same pitch as my drum beat, I learned how to find royalty-free effects online and download and upload them into Soundtrap. I also learned to utilize and customize the automations for a certain loop. I learned how to mix multiple loops using panorama. I learned that changing the pan can change the direction in which you hear the sound from. I have learned what reverb is and also that adding too much in a song will produce too much of an echo sound but it may sound good with certain instruments.
For this project, I was challenged to make multiple loops and compose them into a song with an ABACA form. I had created three drum beats and three bass beats. I took some time ordering them and choosing which one matches together and which ones goes where. I have uploaded cymbal sound effects into my song. I reversed the sound to make it sound like it is building up and then crash suddenly, a riser. I have added risers too have a smooth transition from one measure to the next, I have added risers going from A-B as well as A-C. I utilized the pan dial many times during the mixing process so the song will sound more clear overall. I used automation multiple times throughout this song to add fades and cutoff a certain loop and add them back in a later time. I added different synth loops too all parts of my song.
In this composition, I was challenged to producing a beat in the dorian scale. I produce a low, medium, and a high loop that is all in the D minor scale. I made the loops using a drum beat, and recording my loops over the drum beat. I picked out a LoFi beat, and made a bass using the LoFi 808 on Soundtrap. I have used my bass a low pitched beat, and I have made it simple. My bass loops consists of nine long notes in six measures. I chose electric piano as my instrument for my medium pitched loop. I have also made this loop simple, but not as simple as my bass loop. My piano loop is four of the same chords being played and then switched to four different chords, and then it repeats. When I produced my high pitched beat, I produced the loop using the trumpet as my instrument. However, the trumpet sound was still too low, to be my high pitched loop, so I changed the pitch on Soundtrap, to go up an octave. When selecting my loops to be placed in my beat, the trumpet did not match with the drum beat and the bass loop, so I tested out different instruments, and came to the decision to pick the French Horn. I have added one more high pitched loop to the end of the beat, but I have chosen it to be simple and it is just 2 different chords repeating. I have added automations to the song because I have added overlapped some loops, and I wanted there to be fades. I have also added reverb to the electric piano to add an effect of a synth.
Before I started producing the beat, I learned all the different scales, and how the Dorian scale is popular in Hip-Hop because of its slightly dark sound. I have learned how to produce loops by using a beat in the background and recording my loops while the beat is playing. I learned that different instruments created different pitches, for example the bass creates a low pitches sound. A loop cannot be too complicated and has to be simple when recording using the bass. The low pitched instruments need a simple loop while the high pitched loops may have more complicated rhythms. Woodwind instruments can create a high pitched sound, but it might not be high enough. I learned how to change the pitch of a loop that I have recorded, so it may be in a higher octave.
This composition was my final project for my Music Tech class. I have chosen A minor as my key and 85 bpm as my tempo. When building this composition I formatted my loops into "bricks". Each brick was 2 measures long throughout all the loops. To format my song I deleted certain loops in certain measures, so every few measures would be unique. I added an SFX to add sound effects to my song. I have also made a video for my song.
I have learned how to make bricks while producing this composition. Using Bricks, I have leaned how too only play certain loops during certain measures. I learned how to add SFX's to my song, so there can be sound effects. I learned how to use WeVideo for the first time, and use stock images to produce a video about the theme of my song.
